As previously stated (It seems to be a recurring theme) there is an overabundance of information out there for advertising yourself and your products online.
I have decided to focus my attention on learning SEO, and how to maximize traffic to my WordPress site. One can not sell any service or product they offer, if one cannot reach one’s target audience.
I have found a great resource of information in my Kindle Unlimited subscription I have had for several months. I am able to read newly released titles, without actually having to pay for title. You pay a monthly subscription for the service. Around $10 is what I pay. And you can borrow up to 10 titles at a time. It’s great. I’m really bad at returning books. It’s nice to only have to click a button when I’m done with it. Currently I’m mostly using the titles for research. With so much info out there, and only one income we don’t have extra money on spend titles that have no useful information. If I find a title I actually want to keep, I can buy it if I choose. It’s a great system! I found the SEO book I am currently reading using my subscription. 3 Months to No.1 by Will Coombe.
I am 25% of the way through it, and I have taken several pages of notes. As a beginner, I have founds his insight very informative. If you will find a preview of his e-book. Which started with a short history of his background. An Airline pilot who was worried about the very real possibility of losing his pilot license. Through no fault of his own. He watched it happen to a close friend. Even the slightest of medical conditions could make you “unfit” for commercial piloting. What he saw happen to his friend, began his journey into SEO. He didn’t want to be caught off guard if life threw a curveball. He wanted a back up plan. Eventually, his backup plan became his priority. He had doubled his income, and now runs a SEO consulting company. I don’t want to reach his level, but I definitely want to know how he did it.
Once I finish reading the book, I will write a plan on how I wish to proceed. He iterates the importance of layering. So I will do my best to follow his advice. In the meantime, I will be putting a great deal of focus on the story. My TTG page, has been helpful in developing the world I am trying to create. It has helped me hear my muse’s voice. The story has been flowing nicely lately. I hope to have my first Novelle in editing phase by the end of January. I need to focus on finishing my Manuscript. I will also need to come up with money to pay for editing, and a book cover. More on that later though. One step at a time.
For the next few days, maybe longer, I will be focusing alternating between reading, and writing. I will be doing very little web work. Other than monitoring my Fiverr account.
After I finish reading this book, I will find a title on WordPress building, and do the same thing. Once I have read both, I will begin messing with my sites again. I hope by then, I will have my logo. I will continue with my posting though. Having a running log is very useful. I write a summery of what I’ve done for work nightly. I use my notes to make posts. It’s helpful to me. I hope it is helpful to you.
(Personal note)
I am really worried about being overwhelmed. (It’s funny, but it’s not a joke. I am anxious about being anxious. Anxiety sucks. I know there are a lot of folks out there who understand how it feels.) So far, I have managed to follow a plan. I will chalk that up to past failures though. Needing an income is great motivation. Lack of money for school, means a self curated course from internet resources. In a way, I feel like it’s been more informative than my actual college education. But at least there will be no student debt. The point is I have to take time out to remember this is a process. I can’t have to have it all this instant. The only way I am able to do this is with my wonderful husband’s support. I have been afraid to make this leap for years, but now it is time to fly. I am a leaf on the wind, and I refuse to get stuck!
